Goodwill Serves More, as More Looking for Jobs

Despite the sluggish economy and slow store sales, the number of people coming through Goodwill’s programs has increased. This is often the case during slow economic periods when unemployment is high and people are in need of public assistance. More people are coming to Goodwill through referring agencies in order to receive job training and employment services in the hopes of finding work.

CARF International announced that Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries has been accredited for a period of three years for its Employment Services: Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation Services programs. The latest accreditation is the 13th consecutive three-year accreditation that the international accrediting body has awarded to Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries.

Goodwill Receives Renewal Grant from HUD

Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries recently received a $72,063 renewal grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The grant will allow Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries to continue to provide vocational services to the homeless.

Goodwill Banquet Honors Employees, Recognizes Community Support

On Thursday, May 29, over 200 guests were in attendance to watch while Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries’ employees and supporters were honored at an Awards Banquet at the Holiday Inn Boardman. With Goodwill’s primary focus to rehabilitate and teach job skills to those with disabilities and other barriers to employment, this gala event acknowledged employees for exceptional performance over the past year, as well as the vital community support received.
