You can even recycle those old electronics, including computers by donating them to Goodwill for the Dell Reconnect program.

Goodwill Receives $15,000 Grant from the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley

Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries recently received a $15,000 grant from the Kennedy Family Fund, a component fund of The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, to assist with funding for programs that are currently not funded or underfunded.

The last Friday and Saturday (together) of every month the eight area Goodwill stores (Austintown, Boardman, Calcutta, Hermitage, Liberty, New Castle, Salem and Warren) hold a 50% off sale where all donated merchandise is half off. Following is a list of the 2012 dates:

Colder Weather Means Fewer Donations for Goodwill

To most, Autumn means the rustling of leaves, cool evenings, trick-or-treat and football games. For Goodwill, it means the slowing-up of donations. The colder the weather gets, the fewer donations Goodwill receives. Even with the donations that Goodwill stores away throughout the Spring and Summer in preparation for the slow period, by the end of Winter, stores are struggling to remain fully stocked and donations become scarce.
