Hire a Goodwill Graduate the Next Time You Need to Hire

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

Looking to hire someone who’s job ready and available? You may want to consider hiring a Goodwill graduate. Goodwill’s job placement program can help you find that employee.

The Job Placement Program assists people seeking employment in choosing, obtaining and retaining employment in the community. “Our clients do a lot of preparation in job club. We talk about job leads in the local newspapers, work on job skills and resume development,” says Robert Mitchell, job placement specialist.

Goodwill’s job placement program has seen an increase in their numbers over the years and would like to continue with that trend. So far this year there have been 46 competitive placements, an increase from this time last year. In addition, there have been 30 individuals placed who have retained employment for at least 90 days, compared to 14 at this time last year.

Goodwill has placed individuals in areas such as janitorial, retail, housekeeping, telemarketing, customer service and the restaurant industry. McDonald’s, Dinesol Plastics, Comfort Inn, Johnson & Gordon Janitorial, Gasser Chair, Perkins Restaurant and Lowe’s are just a few of the companies that have hired a Goodwill graduate.
