Celebrating Over 130 Years of Community Impact
Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries began in 1894 as the Christ Mission Settlement on East Federal Street, created to meet the needs of local residents.
The organization was created in response to the unique needs of local residents, and though programs and services have evolved over time, the mission of helping people build better lives has remained constant.

We are proud to continue serving our Mahoning Valley community as a nonprofit leader in education and workforce development.
From its early days helping immigrants with language, housing, and job support, Goodwill has always been rooted in service, inclusion, and empowerment.
What started as a small mission soon grew into “Opportunity Stores,” where donated items were sold at low prices to support community programs and create local jobs—a concept that continues today through our Goodwill Stores.
