Radio Reading Service

Youngstown Radio Reading Service (YRRS) is a private nonprofit station that provides audio broadcasts of local newspapers, magazines, best-selling books, talk shows, and special interest programs. Its programming serves individuals with visual impairments throughout Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

Preschool Vision Screening

Our volunteers screen preschool children in Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana counties for amblyopia, commonly known as “lazy eye.” Volunteers are trained by Prevent Blindness Ohio and use VIP Screening Kits to screen children in daycares and schools from 3 to 5 years old.

Junior Group 

The Junior Group is the volunteer arm of the Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries and has been serving the needs of the organization and its participants for nearly 30 years through its fundraising and community efforts. The Junior Group is active through employee engagement and visits team members at the plant monthly for coffee and donuts. One of the Group’s main initiatives is maintaining and supplying the internal food pantry for employees.
